Hello all! Hope you’re coping OK through this stressful time.
Tomorrow (Saturday, 2nd May) evening I’m delighted to be performing in Quarantine Cabaret! This is a fantastic initiative showcasing Scottish musicians, poets, and comedians through live-streamed online gigs. They’re streaming over Instagram Live every Saturday evening at 7:30pm GMT. Tomorrow I’ll be performing some brand-new poems (and possibly a golden oldie). Tune in! And if you have the means, please consider donating to the bucket so that performers can be paid; this is an important source of income helping to replace revenue from cancelled gigs.
As I shared in my last post, throughout April I Am Loud took part in National Poetry Writing Month, or #NaPoWriMo. We challenged ourselves to write a poem every day of the month. I kept up almost to the end but fell off the wagon in the final week. Life’s pretty stressful right now! So I’m still writing into the first week of May, trying to make up for those days I missed. Although it’s been tough trying to write every day, I’m so grateful I challenged myself to do it: it allowed me to prioritise my creativity during this bizarre period. Some days I wrote about the pandemic and how it’s changing our world, and some days I used writing as a way to escape it. Each weekend our team gathered digitally to record podcasts sharing our experiences and some of the poems we’d written that week. I’ve shared our latest one below; enjoy!
Hope to see you on the Quarantine Cabaret livestream this Saturday! Wishing you and yours all my best. K
Thank you forr writing this
