After 18 months away, 18 months of digital work and Zoom gigs, I am over the moon to be returning to the stage next month!
Loud Poets are returning to live events for the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in one week! This will be our seventh run at the Fringe and we couldn’t be more excited to return. Every Friday in August we’re performing two live shows (7:00-8:15pm & 8:45-10pm) at the Scottish Storytelling Centre, plus a slam on Sat. 28th. Tickets are now available through this link.
It’s utterly bizarre to be typing this after such a long period of will-it-won’t-it; all of the changes to restrictions, the shifting public health environment. Ordinarily the I Am Loud team starts putting together our Fringe plans in January to prepare for August, but this year we had to keep an eye on the news and wait until the last minute before everything could be confirmed. These past few weeks have been a frenzy of sorting dates, arranging lineups, making graphics, and doing all of the bits and pieces to ensure the show can go on!
As we return to live performance, health and safety and accessibility continue to be central priorities for us. We’ve been incredibly cautious as a team throughout the pandemic, and the decision to return to live events was one we made with great care. This Fringe run is being arranged a little differently—for one, we’re not flyering!—to make it as safe as possible. We’re grateful to the Scottish Storytelling Centre for their stringent commitment to public health guidelines in order to keep both us as performers and our audiences safe. You can learn about all the measures in place at the Storytelling Centre (including limited theatre capacity, 1m social distancing, and masking) here.
For updates on the shows, including the special guest lineup (!!) you can join the Facebook event page here, or follow I Am Loud through social media at these links. Hope to see you in August! —Katie
